Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The breakfast was wonderful and plentiful supply of fruit. Cooked breakfasts were exceptional and brilliant flexibility for early morning breakfasts before the scheduled time. As our coach was scheduled to leave at 530 pm the owner and management allowed us to check out at our leisure. Also the gardens were well maintained and the close proximity to the town centre was very advantageous for myself and my 88 year old father in law. Also wonderful service throughout and the owner of the hotel made us feel welcome.

Negative: The breakfasts were tremendous but I thought the dinner ( Cretan ) was not very enjoyable. However the major drawback was the cost of taxis in Selcuk as compared to Bodrum ( where I have a holiday home ) was very excessive. For example on this visit a 6 mile journey in Izmir cost 800 lira whilst in Selcuk a two mile journey cost 500 lira. The difference between Izmir and Selcuk was astonishing. In Bodrum a 6 mile journey cost me 600 lira and all these journeys happened this week. Just felt there was a scam being operated in Selcuk by the taxi owners or a taxi cartel, for example we were dropped off at Virgin Mary house there was no way we could get back with a different taxi and that taxi driver ( for both journeys ) would wait for an excessive cost. The journeys between Selcuk and Virgin Mary house and Ephesus were not long journeys but after hotel costs being the biggest expenses the second biggest cost was taxis. There is no suggestion that the hotel profits in any way with the high level of taxi fares charged but maybe the hoteliers can have a discussion with the taxi owners to make sure that taxi fares are reasonable but not excessive.

Summary: The homely character of the hotel was superb and service first class and will visit hotel again 🙏
